Entrepose Contracting announces the winning of a contract for the construction of cryogenic tanks associated with the Dunkirk LNG terminal

Entrepose Contracting, a contractor specialized in the design and implementation of complex industrial projects in the oil and gas and more generally energy and environment fields, announces the contract for the construction of three cryogenic tanks at the Dunkirk LNG terminal.

Obtained within the framework of a consortium involving Entrepose Contracting (leader) and Bouygues Travaux Publics, this contract was signed with Dunkerque LNG, a subsidiary of EDF. It provides for the construction of three cryogenic storage tanks for liquefied natural gas (LNG), each with a useful capacity of 190 000 m3. These three tanks, among the largest built in the world, of type “full integrity”, are composed of an internal wall in steel with 9% nickel that keeps the LNG at a temperature of -163°C, thanks to a perlite insulation, and a pre-stressed concrete outer wall.

This turnkey contract, which will be subject to the strictest environmental and safety constraints in the sector, includes engineering, equipment supply, construction and testing for commissioning of the tanks.

Work is expected to begin no later than early 2012, following the completion of preliminary studies currently underway. The planned commissioning of the tanks is scheduled for 2015.

Dominique Bouvier, CEO of Entrepose Contracting, concludes: We are delighted with this great success and our participation in this major project with Dunkerque LNG (EDF group). Our subsidiary CMP Dunkirk will, of course, be heavily involved in this project. The award of this contract confirms Entrepose Contracting’s position as a world leader in turnkey construction of LNG storage tanks.”
