A major milestone reached on the project to extend the GATE LNG terminal in the Netherlands
On 17 December, ENVI project team has successfully completed the air raising of the 725 tons steel roof and secured it to the compression ring installed at the top of the wall.
As part of the extension of the GATE LNG terminal in the Netherlands, our teams ENVI (Entrepose Contracting and VINCI Construction Grands Projets) are building a 4th liquefied natural gas tank.
The construction of the concrete slab began in November 2023, while the assembly of the steel roof started in April 2024.
On 17 December, the project team has successfully completed the air raising of the 725 tons steel roof and secured it to the compression ring installed at the top of the wall.
This achievement is the culmination of a year’s effort to complete the first phase of the project before the end of 2024, in difficult weather conditions. The project is now entering a new era with the start of the mechanical assembly of the reservoir inside the new envelope.
A new challenge awaits the project team in 2025: to be ready at the latest to begin the hydraulic testing of the inner metal tank before the 2025 Christmas break!
